While there is a good deal of relevant information about Ted Shawn, the founding of Jacobs Pillow, and about the history of dance between 1900 - 1970, this book was written right on the heels of Ted Shawns death, and reads like a sleazy tell-all. I think if Walter Terry had been able to restrain himself for a few years, the book would have been much more tasteful.

As it is, readers are left trying to separate what was impetuous, vindictive libel from Walter Terry from what actually happened, and who the man really was. Its fine to acknowledge the human faults in a biographical subject, but there is nothing honorable about the treatment of Ted Shawn in this book.

Still, thats just my two cents.
